(Oct. 31, 19) — Tomorrow, Friday, Nov. 1 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. there will be an open house display of a work in progress at 262 Lark Street, a space purchased in 2017 by Jeff Buell of Redburn Development, along with Justin and Jennifer Miller of Lark Hall and Lark Street Yoga. A team of artists led by Chip Fasciana (a.k.a. Ferdbot) is in the process of building a series of bird sculptures inspired by area street names, including Lark, Jay, Dove, and more, using found and upcycled materials. “The Upcycled Birds of Center Square project is taking an environmentally conscious approach to public sculpture. (Oct. 24, 19) — The Lionheart Pub, operating since 1992, will be opening a new brewery and bar with a ribbon cutting on Friday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m in the newly renovated second-floor space at 448 Madison Ave. Owner Jerry Aumand credits provisions in the updated ReZone Albany zoning code allowing second floor commercial usage for helping ease the process. “This expansion allows for a more complete utilization of our space, opening the door to further investment and the addition of more employees. We applaud ReZone Albany and the tremendous support of Mayor Sheehan and the Common Council for listening to the needs of restaurants and small business in our corridor,” said Aumand. (Oct. 24, 19) — This Sunday, Oct. 27 at 1 p.m. there will be a Halloween Parade on Lark Street, organized by members of the Washington Park Neighborhood Association and the Lark Street BID, with help from the Center Square, Hudson/Park, and Park South Neighborhood Associations. The Washington Park Farmers Market will also be hosting a special Fall Market from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. in Washington Park in conjunction with the parade. Step-off will occur at Washington Ave. & Lark Street at 1 p.m. Fronted by the Albany High School Marching Falcons, the parade will also feature The Albany All Stars Roller Derby Team, The Albany Patroons, local elected officials, members of the BID and the Neighborhood Associations, and costumed pets and kids with parents.
