1st Friday is a monthly arts and culture event that takes place on the 1st Friday of every month in Albany, NY. Event sponsors and participants host events from 5:00 to 9:00 PM, in various neighborhoods throughout the city. Since its beginnings in 2006, 1st Friday has showcased the diversity of offerings that our capital city has to offer! Visit! From art and food to live entertainment, the best of Albany is showcased at 1st Friday. Sponsors and participants offer 1st Friday visitors a chance to explore, enjoy, and support local businesses and the local arts community. Visitors are able to enjoy a diverse range of activities which include: gallery and exhibit openings, free admission to museums, live music, discounts, and specials at area boutiques, restaurants, bars and clubs.

Sunday Cinema in Washington Park – National Treasure

Washington Park Lake House 35 Madison Ave, Albany

This summer, the Lark Street Business Improvement District (BID), Christ's Church of Albany, Albany Public Library and Park Playhouse present Sunday Cinema, featuring two FREE and open-to-the-public family movie nights in Washington Park. Concessions will be provided before each movie by the Park Playhouse. Seating is limited, so be sure to bring blankets and lawnchairs! Enjoy a couple of movies on the big screen in the Washington Park Amphitheater, and bring the whole family! Sunday Cinema was made possible in part by an Amplify Albany grant provided by Capitalize Albany Corporation, Capital Resource Corporation, and by the City of Albany.

Art on Lark

Art on Lark is an annual summer street festival that celebrates local art and artisans in Albany, New York. One day each year in June, the city’s historic Lark Street is shut down to traffic and transformed by artists' displays including painters, photographers, jewelers, sculptors, ceramicists, live performances, and music. Shoppers can enjoy all the regular businesses Lark Street has to offer including cafés, restaurants, gift shops and bars, as well as over 50 local artists popping up for the day with their individual booths. Art on Lark is presented by the Lark Street Business Improvement District, a not-for-profit organization that serves "to build, sustain, and enhance a unique and prosperous living and business community for the residents, merchants, and visitors of the Lark Street neighborhood of Albany, NY”
